International Pen Pals 🖊️

 As many of you know, in 2019 I accepted a job teaching English in Spain. During that time I visited 8 other countries: Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Italy, Vatican, Morocco, Poland and Canada. I made friends in each country and KEEP IN TOUCH with many of them to this day! 

A few of them have even been a guest on the Culture Nuggets podcast!! To keep in touch, I send out post cards, Literally ALL OVER THE WORLD !! I do this every June. The one in the picture above is going to Netherlands and I wrote my message in Dutch (the official language of the Netherlands. It reads: "Hello! I hope that all is well. I'm so glad we stayed in contact and I hope to see you soon!!" A few other post cards that were sent out went to Spain, Poland, Morocco, Canada and England. Its so cool having friends all over the world & I love when they send post cards to me in response. I even got a Christmas card from England and a birthday card from Spain last year! I plan to keep this "Post card tradition" FOREVER!

For Christmas Eve I'm normally at home in Detroit cleaning up and preparing for the family dinner at my grandma's house. But this year, I decided to do something different. Since I was alone in Spain for the holiday, I wanted to do something that would remind me of my grandma. When I was a little girl, I told my grandma I wanted to ride in a hot air balloon like Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. So I booked a balloon flight over Segovia! I flew over a big, beautiful castle, met a nice family that let me "borrow" their grandma for the day and overcame my fear of heights as well as cured my homesickness.  ¡FELIZ NAVIDAD! My 28th birthday! 🇻🇦🎂

It was very exciting to see the Pope and hear his message translated into several different languages!! I really enjoyed myself in Italy and hope to go back again someday.
